10 ◆ Upgrading Upgrading DS2000 to DSX-80/160

Site 4: Upgrade DS2000 16x80 (T1) to DSX-160 23x96 (PRI)

Site 4 is a high-tech company that needs more telephones and wants to upgrade to PRI for cost savings. They

have an existing 4 port x 8 hour IntraMail and need more capacity.

Existing DS2000 Equipment Upgrade Requirements for DSX

ited by FCC in DSX.

(1) DS CPU 80025B Must be replaced.

The DS CPU is not compatible

with DSX.

(1) DS 4x8 IntraMail 80045 Must be replaced. DS IntraMail does not work in

DSX.

(1) T1 Trunk PCB 80011B Must be replaced. The DS T1 Trunk PCB does not

provide PRI when used in DSX.

DS 8-Slot KSU.

required due to Load Factor.

Summary:

• To upgrade, Site 4 must invest in a new DSX-160 8-Slot KSU, three new DSX Power Supplies, DSX CPU Card, DSX

8x16 IntraMail, a DSX T1/E1/PRI PCB, and a DSX 16ESIU PCB.

• In addition, Site 4 must also add 16 new DSX telephone to reach the required total of 96.

• For future expansion in the available slot, Site 4 can add a 16COIU Card, or another T1/E1/PRI Card.
